Parent Orientation

The first onboarding training for parents. This training describes the Big Brothers Big Sisters process, expectations and next steps. You'll leave the session with an understanding of how to engage with the organization.

Parent Safety Training

1 hour

This training is taken after Parent Orientation. Parents and children will learn about safety for participating in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Any children participating in the program must also attend Child Safety Training, offered at the same times as Parent Safety Training

Raising Highly Capable Kids Introduction

1 hour

This training is taken after Parent Orientation. Parents will learn about the 40 Assets, the effects of trauma and child development.

Mentor Orientation

1 hour

Describes the Big Brothers Big Sisters process and expectations. You'll leave the session signed up for the next step, your Volunteer "Big" interview.

Mentoring 101

1 hour

You will learn about your role as a mentor, rules of the program and how to handle common challenges in your match relationship.

The 40 Assets

1 hour

How to be effective in your mentoring relationship and have strong and meaningful outcomes with your Little.

BBBS's Kids: Cultural Competency

1 hour

This volunteer training will go over descriptions of the kids and families in our program, child development, cultural competency, privilege and values.

Breaking Up is Hard to Do

1 hour

All BBBS matches close; this training covers the importance of proper closure, the effects of improper closure, closure indicators and how to develop a closure plan for when that day comes.

Bigs Roundtable

1 hour

This training is open to currently matched Volunteers.

Volunteer Info Session

1 hour

Volunteers interested in learning about all the ways to help BBBS.
